Angular Momentum For Circular Orbits Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ h = \sqrt{GMr} $$ where:

h   =   Angular momentum   (m²/s)

G   =   Gravitational Constant   (6.674 x 10-11 m3 kg-1 s-2)

M   =   Mass of the central body   (kg)

r   =   Orbital Radius   (m)

Assumptions

  • The objects are treated as point masses.
  • The central body is assumed to be spherically symmetric.
  • There is no atmospheric drag.
  • The object remains in a constant circular orbit.
  • The gravitational field is uniform.
