Friction Power Loss Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ P_f = F_f \cdot v $$ where:

Pf   =   Power loss due to friction   (W)

Ff   =   Friction Force   (N)

v   =   Velocity at which the frictional force is applied   (m/s)

Assumptions

  • The system is in steady state.
  • Frictional force remains constant.
  • Flow is one-dimensional.
  • Heat dissipation is negligible.
  • There are no additional external forces.
