Press Brake Tonnage Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ F = \frac{S \cdot L \cdot T^2}{R} $$ where:

F   =   Force requried   (tons)

S   =   Shear strength of the material   (kgf/mm²)

L   =   Bend length   (mm)

T   =   Material thickness   (mm)

R   =   Inside bend radius   (mm)

Assumptions

  • The material properties are unifrom.
  • The bending process is ideal.
  • Friction effects are not considered.
  • Springback effects are not considered.
