How This Is Calculated


$$ F_c = K_c \cdot f \cdot d $$ where:

Fc   =   Cutting force   (N)

Kc   =   Specific cutting force/coefficient   (N/mm²)

f   =   Feed rate per revolution   (mm²)

d   =   Depth of cut   (mm)


Assumptions


  • Only one cutting edge is engaged in the material at a time.
  • Vibration and chip segmentation effects are not considered.
  • Heat and friction effects are ignored.
  • Properties of the material are unifrom.
