Angular Momentum Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ h = rv cos(θ) $$ where:

h   =   Angular momentum   (m²/s)

r   =   Orbital Radius   (m)

v   =   Orbital Velocity   (kg)

θ   =   Angle between velocity vector and radial direction   (rad)

Assumptions

  • The objects are treated as point masses.
  • The central body is assumed to be spherically symmetric.
  • There is no atmospheric drag.
  • The orbital radius remains constant.
  • The gravitational field is uniform.
