Plume Cross-Sectional Area Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ A = \left(\frac{6}{5}\right)^2 \pi {\epsilon}^2 z^2 $$
where:

A   =   Cross-sectional area of plume   (m²)

ε   =   Entrainment coefficient   (dimensionless)

z   =   Height above the source of the plume   (m)

Assumptions

  • The system is in steady state.
  • Emission rate is uniform.
  • The fluid behaves as an ideal gas.
  • Plume source is homogeneous.
