$$ \frac{R_i}{R_f} = 4 \cdot \left(\frac{R_i}{E \cdot T}\right) - 3 \cdot \left(\frac{R_i}{E \cdot T}\right) + 1 $$ where:

Ri   =   Initial bend radius   (m)

Rf   =   Final bend radius   (m)

E   =   Young's modulus   (Pa)

T   =   Material thickness   (m)

  • The material properties are unifrom.
  • The neutral axis location remains constant.
  • Bening is planar.
  • Thermal and strain rate effects are not considered.
