Otto Cycle Comression Ratio Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ r = \frac{V_1}{V_2} $$ where:

r   =   Compression Ratio   (Dimensionless)

V1   =   Cylinder volume at the beginning of the compression stroke at bottom dead center   (kg/m³)

V2   =   Cylinder volume at the end of the compression stroke at top dead center   (kg/m³)

Assumptions

  • The working fluid behaves as an ideal gas.
  • Specific heats remain constant.
  • Compression and expansion processes are adiabatic.
  • There is perfect mixing of the air and fuel.
