Work Done by Turbine (Isentropic Expansion) Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ W_{turbine} = h_3 - h_4 $$ where:

Wturbine   =   Work produced by the turbine   (J)

h3   =   Enthalpy of steam entering the turbine   (J)

h4   =   Enthalpy of the steam after leaving the turbine   (J)

Assumptions

  • The system is in steady state.
  • Working fluid behaves as an ideal gas.
  • There are no heat losses to surroundings.
  • Specific heats remain constant.
