Diesel Cycle Cutoff Ratio Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ \rho = \frac{V_3}{V_2} $$ where:

ρ   =   Cutoff Ratio   (Dimensionless)

V3   =   Volume after heat addition   (m³)

V2   =   Volume before heat addition   (m³)

Assumptions

  • The working fluid behaves as an ideal gas.
  • Compression and expansion stages are adiabatic.
  • There are no heat losses to surroundings.
  • Specific heats remain constant.
