Bend Deduction Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ BD = 2 \cdot (R + K + T) \cdot tan \left(\frac{\theta}{2}\right) $$ where:

BD   =   Bend deduction   (m)

R   =   Bend radius   (m)

K   =   K-factor   (dimensionless)

T   =   Material thickness   (m)

θ   =   Bend angle   (rad)

Assumptions

  • The neutral axis is located halfway through the thickness of the material.
  • The bend radius is constant throughout the bend.
  • The thickness of the material is uniform.
  • Springback is not considered.
