Heat Input in Welding Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ Q = \frac{V \cdot I \cdot \eta}{v} $$ where:

Q   =   Heat input per unit length   (J)

V   =   Voltage   (V)

I   =   Current   (A)

η   =   Thermal efficiency   (dimensionless)

v   =   Welding speed   (m/s)

Assumptions

  • Welding perameters remain constant during welding process.
  • Heat transfer is ideal.
  • Heat distribution is uniform.
  • Weld pool dyanmcis are not considered.
