Force on a Fluid in a Control Volume Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$F = Q \rho (v_2 - v_1)$$
where:

F   =   Force on the fluid   (N)

Q   =   Flow rate   (m³/s)

ρ   =   Density of fluid   (kg/m³)

v1   =   Velocity 1   (m/s²)

v2   =   Velocity 2   (m/s²)

Assumptions

  • Flow is two dimensional and frictionless.
  • The fluid is in steady flow.
  • The fluid is incompressible.
  • Body force forces are neglected.
