Bend Allowance Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ BA = \theta \cdot \left( R + \frac{T}{2} \right) $$ where:

BA   =   Bend allowance   (m)

θ   =   Bend angle   (rad)

R   =   Bend radius   (m)

T   =   Material thickness   (m)

Assumptions

  • The neutral axis is located halfway through the thickness of the material.
  • The bend radius is constant throughout the bend.
  • The thickness of the material is uniform.
  • Springback is not considered.
