Helix Angle Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ tan(\phi) = \frac{v_0}{\omega r} $$ where:

φ   =   Helix Angle (degrees)

v0   =   Freestream velocity   (m/s)

ω   =   Angular velocity   (rad/s)

r   =   Radial distance from the hub   (m)

Assumptions

  • The system is in steady state.
  • Fluid is incompressible.
  • The propeller is ideal.
  • The velocity distribution is unifrom.
  • Propeller flexibility is ignored.
