Specific Wear Rate Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ k = \frac{ V }{ F_n \cdot L } $$ where:

k   =   Specific wear rate   (m³/Nm)

V   =   Wear Volume   (m³)

Fn   =   Normal Load   (N)

L   =   Sliding Distance   (m)

Assumptions

  • The wear is uniform over the contact surface.
  • The normal force remains constant.
  • The system is in steady state.
  • The sliding distance is linear.
  • Temperature effects are negligible.
