Escape Velocity Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ v_e = \sqrt{\frac{2 GM}{r}} $$ where:

ve   =   Escape velocity   (m/s)

G   =   Gravitational Constant   (6.674 x 10-11 Nm2kg-2)

M   =   Mass of the celestrial body   (kg)

r   =   Distance from the center of the body   (m)

Assumptions

  • The objects are treated as point masses.
  • The mass distribution of the objects are spherically symmertric.
  • There is no atmospheric drag.
  • The system is simplied to the interaction between two bodies.
  • The gravitational field is uniform.
