Work Done by Pump (Isentropic Compression) Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ W_{pump} = v_f \cdot (P_2 - P_1) $$ where:

Wpump   =   Work done by the pump   (J)

vf   =   Specific volume of the fluid at the pump inlet   (kg/m³)

P2   =   Pressure after combutstion (boiler pressure)   (Pa)

P1   =   Pressure before combutstion (condenser pressure)   (Pa)

Assumptions

  • The system is in steady state.
  • Working fluid behaves as an ideal gas.
  • There are no heat losses to surroundings.
  • Specific heats remain constant.
