Energy Density Calculator

How This Is Calculated

$$ E = \frac{P}{v \cdot h \cdot d} $$ where:

E   =   Energy density   (J/mm³)

P   =   Laser power   (W)

v   =   Scan speed   (mm/s)

h   =   Hatch spacing   (mm)

d   =   Layer thickness   (mm)

Assumptions

  • The power input remains constant.
  • The printing speed is uniform.
  • The layer height remains constant.
  • Heat losses and efficiency variants are ignored.
